Elemental Workshop: December 4th at 6pm

Join me to create 2 double page layouts using this fun and versatile paper pack! You will have lots of paper left over to create additional layouts or cards as well. I will walk you through the layouts, and show you how to use the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to create some of the fun shapes found on these layouts.

To create the layouts exactly as I have, your shopping list should include the following items:

Elemental Level 2 Paper Pack (X7141B): $10.95
Decor Journaling Spots (Z1461): $6.50
Colour-Ready Cork Alphabet (Z1450): $6.50
Designer Ribbon Red Collection (Z1615): $6.50
Milepost Shapes (Z1464): $4.50
Love Life (D1482): $19.95

Of course, you are welcome to use my stamp set at the workshop, and feel free to omit or substitute embellishments for your own personal style. Once I have an idea of the number of attendees, it will also be possible to split some of the embellishment packages between you to reduce the cost, but still enable you to purchase all of the fun embellishments I used! I love my embellishments, and it seems I used a little bit of everything on these layouts!

Contact me today to reserve your spot! I will require confirmation and payment by November 21st to ensure I have enough time to order your kit.

Happy scrapping!

Cute Halloween Tags and Treats

I made some simple Halloween tags to attach to bags of cookies that I baked for my boys' classes at school. I cut the ticket shape of the tag using my favourite tool, the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and Mischief bulk paper, and then attached rectangles of black and barn red cardstock to the ticket. I stamped with black on the barn red cardstock using the Wicked stamp set. The result was simple but cute tag to dress up the cookies.

While I was busy bagging and tagging the cookies, my 6 year old son was hard at work on a card of his own that he made all by himself. The front is a picture of me wearing a crown (since that is my typical accessory of choice, of course!). Inside the card, he wrote, "I love you. Thank you for walking me to school" and on the back, he wrote, "I love mom. To: mom, From: Hugh." These boys consistently remind me of the importance of preserving our most special moments, and I can't wait to incorporate this card into a layout!

Have a safe and Happy Halloween! Thanks for looking, and happy scrapping!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Layout

The challenge this week over at Heart 2 Heart is a layout that includes journaling, or telling a story. This layout is from my Dreamin’ Workshop, and is my take on the secondary layout. I flipped all the papers so I would get the other side of the patterns. The pictures are printed in sepia, and that seemed to go perfectly with the colours in this paper pack.

I don’t seem to be able to get a clear close-up of the journaling, so I will just tell you the story here...

My grandparents started the family tradition of taking my cousins, my sister and me, to the pumpkin patch to choose our Halloween pumpkins every year. It was always a much-anticipated event, something special that we looked forward to for months in advance. Now that I have my own children, and live across the country from my own parents, the trek to the pumpkin patch is even more meaningful. I love to watch their delight in choosing their pumpkins, going on a hayride, visiting the petting zoo, and all the other fun things that family farms in our area offer. This year, we trekked to Abbotsford, BC, to the Apple Barn and had a great time despite the pouring rain. This page is one of the many about our day at the patch, and the pictures are of the boys on the hayride down to the pumpkins. Funnily enough, after I completed this page, I spoke to my dad on the phone and he had just taken my nieces and nephews to the patch back home in Ontario! Thank you Gramma and Grampa for starting this wonderful tradition!

Thanks for looking, and now I am heading over to Heart 2 Heart so I can check out all of your stories! Happy scrapping!

At the Patch

For anyone who checked out my "At the Patch" layout that I created last week, I am re-posting it now with photos. I took the kids to the Apple Barn pumpkin patch over Thanksgiving weekend, and couldn't wait to get the photos onto the layout. It looks much better with the photos!

Please see the original posting below for the supply list to create this layout.

Happy Scrapping!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge

So, as I am jumping into this new world of blogging and actually posting my artwork, I thought I would participate in my first ever challenge! Heart 2 Heart Challenges are sponsored and created by fellow Close to my Heart Independent Consultants. They inspire some fabulous artwork in sharing theirs, and I am a huge fan. This week's challenge was called Sentiment-ally Yours, and required participants to use only a sentiment stamp, and no other stamped images. It's harder than it sounds, especially since I am addicted to stamping! Instead, I turned to my Cricut and whipped up this cute card...

To make this card, I used Colonial White cardstock, and cut a 5" circle card using the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. I cut a 2 1/4" circle tag (also in Colonial White), and a 2 3/4" scallop circle using some matching blue cardstock I had on hand. I cut a 4 1/2" circle using Wonderland paper for the background, and stamped the sentiment from Hooray Bouquet (D1491) using Chocolate ink. I inked all the edges in Chocolate, and attached the Dark Chocolate Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (Z1617) and some Opaques Adhesive Gems from the Mocha collection (Z1333). Voila! It took me longer to write about it than to make it! I hope you like it!

Mischief Scrapbooking Workshop

Join me on Sunday, October 16th at 7pm to create 2 12x12 2 page layouts to showcase your Halloween photos using the brand new “Mischief” paper line! This paper would also work beautifully for fall photos.

There are a couple of different pricing options:
1)Purchase the Workshop on the Go Kit for $33.50 ($41.27 including tax and shipping). The kit includes: Mischief Workshop Stamp Set, Mischief Level 2 Paper Pack, Midnight Felt Shapes, and a printed workshop guide. With the guide, you can still complete the projects even if you aren’t able to make it to the workshop!

2)If you would prefer to do the workshop and use my stamp set, simply purchase the Mischief Level 2 Paper Pack and the Midnight Felt Shapes for $22 including tax and shipping.

3)Finally, if you know me very well, you know I go crazy for all things fall and Halloween, so I have made a FEW more layouts with this paper kit. If you wish to do the same, simply add a Dark Neutral Shade Pack for $8.75 and Newsprint Rub Ons for $9.95 to your order and you will be able to make some additional layouts too! I will also have a limited amount of additional patterned paper and cardstock for $1/sheet for any extra you require to make these layouts.

If you want to register for this workshop, I need confirmation and payment by October 3rd to ensure I have enough time to order your kit.

These are the additional layouts I created using the extra cardstock and newsprint rubons (and my Cricut, of course)...

More Artwork from Vancouver Regional Celebrations

One of the awesome pieces we made at Vancouver Regional Celebrations was this gorgeous card box made using the beautiful fall-themed Dreamin Paper Packet.

We also made some great cards to fill the box, featuring shapes cut from the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge.

Cricut Art Philosophy Collection

As a scrapbooker who didn't own a Cricut machine, I didn't understand why the crafting community was freaking out at the release of an exclusive CTMH Cricut cartridge. All it took to convince me that I was seriously missing out was to see some of the gorgeous artwork being created by my fellow CTMH consultants. I have since acquired a Cricut, and the AP cartridge, and I don't know how I was scrapbooking without it! It's amazing! With 700 different images, multiple 3D items, fonts and creative features, it has become my new favourite tool!

Here is a cute card I made the first time I played around with the cartridge. The card base, as well as the beautiful 3D flowers and flourish were cut using the cartridge. I love my Cricut!

Close to my Heart Vancouver Regional Celebrations

I recently had the pleasure of attending Close to my Heart's Vancouver Regional Celebrations.  We had two full days of classes, creativity and cropping!  It was a crafty girl's dream mini-break!

There was a contest/swap at the event as well.  Entrants had to use the new kraft 6x6 cards by CTMH in some fashion.  I entered the card below and was honoured to be voted 3rd place by my fabulous fellow consultants!  I hope you like it!
